The rules behind the game — what you may expect from us when using Klaverjas HD, and what we ask of you.

/ ARTICLE 01

Applicability

These terms and conditions apply to the use of the Klaverjas HD app and the website knippie.com, provided by Knipsoft.

1.1 By installing the app or using the website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1.2 Knipsoft may amend these terms from time to time. The most recent version is always at knippie.com/voorwaarden.

1.3 Deviations from these terms are only valid if agreed in writing.

/ ARTICLE 02

Definitions

The following definitions apply in these terms:

  • Knipsoft — Knipsoft, based in the Netherlands, KvK 54439108, supplier of the app and the website.
  • App — the Klaverjas HD application for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows.
  • User — any natural person who uses the app or the website.
  • Account — a personal user profile within the app, required for multiplayer.
  • Subscription — a paid agreement for extra features, concluded via the App Store or Google Play.
  • Legacy status — special status for users who purchased the old paid version.

Use of the app

3.1 The app is free to download and use for personal, non-commercial use.

3.2 You are permitted to use the app on as many devices as you like, provided they are linked to your personal account.

3.3 It is not permitted to:

  • Copy, modify, reverse-engineer or decompile the app or any part of it
  • Use the app for commercial purposes without written permission
  • Use automated scripts, bots or cheats
  • Circumvent security measures or disrupt the operation of the app
  • Insult, harass or otherwise harm other users in multiplayer or chat
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent the fair-play systems (such as Daily Challenge or reputation)
Sanctions

In the event of a violation, Knipsoft may suspend or permanently close the account without prior warning. Paid subscriptions are not refunded in that case.

3.4 AI opponent, rating and AI-generated content

The app includes an automated AI opponent (a classic "Tree" brain and a learning "Neural" brain), a player rating, and virtual players that may make remarks at the table. You acknowledge that:

  • the AI opponent and the rating are tools provided "as is"; outcomes, strength and rating are indicative and may change with each update;
  • chat and table remarks by virtual players are partly AI-generated and may therefore be incorrect, unexpected or inappropriate; they do not represent the views of Knipsoft and confer no rights;
  • the neural AI brain may require a one-time download of model files and, without them, falls back to the classic brain;
  • optionally sharing anonymous games to improve the AI is voluntary, off by default, and can be switched off at any time (see the privacy policy).

Account & security

4.1 An account is required for multiplayer features. You register it with an email address, a username and a password.

4.2 You are responsible for keeping your password secret and securing your account.

4.3 A maximum of one account per IP address per hour may be created to prevent abuse.

4.4 Knipsoft may suspend or delete an account in case of serious violation of these terms, suspected fraud, or prolonged inactivity (longer than 3 years).

4.5 You can delete your account at any time via the app settings, or by sending an email to support@knippie.com.

Subscriptions & purchases

5.1 Concluding

You take out subscriptions via the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android). The terms, payment conditions and refund policy of the relevant platform apply.

5.2 Rates

Current rates are shown in the app at the time of purchase. Monthly and yearly options are available. A discount applies to yearly payment.

5.3 Renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them at least 24 hours before the end of the current period via your App Store or Google Play account.

5.4 Refunds

Refund requests go through the App Store or Google Play. Knipsoft has no influence over this.

5.5 Legacy status

Users who purchased the old paid version of the app retain comparable access to premium features via legacy status. Activate it via the app settings.

5.6 Operation on multiple devices

Your subscription is linked to your app username. Signing in on another device with the same account automatically activates the benefits.

Intellectual property

6.1 All intellectual property rights in the app, the website, the source code, the images, the design, the text and the databases belong exclusively to Knipsoft.

6.2 By using the app you obtain a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app as intended by Knipsoft.

6.3 Copying, distributing or publishing content of the app or website without written permission is not permitted.

6.4 Klaverjas HD, Knipsoft and the Knipsoft logo are trademarks of Knipsoft.

/ ARTICLE 07

Limitation of liability

7.1 Knipsoft endeavours to make the app function as well as possible, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, updates and technical failures may occur.

7.2 The app is provided "as is". Knipsoft gives no warranty that the app works flawlessly or is fit for a particular purpose.

7.3 Knipsoft is not liable for indirect damage, consequential damage, lost profit, or loss of data, except in case of intent or gross negligence.

7.4 Knipsoft's total liability is in all cases limited to the amount you paid in subscription fees over the past 12 months, with a maximum of € 100.

7.5 The limitations in this article do not apply to the extent that mandatory law (such as consumer law) provides otherwise.

7.6 To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the content or consequences of AI-generated content (including chat and table remarks by virtual players) or for decisions you make based on the AI opponent or the rating.

Privacy

Knipsoft processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Read our privacy policy for details on which data we collect, why, and which rights you have.

/ ARTICLE 09

Termination

9.1 You can stop using the app at any time by removing it from your device and closing your account.

9.2 Ongoing subscriptions remain active until the end of the paid period unless you cancel them in time via the App Store or Google Play.

9.3 Knipsoft may terminate the agreement in case of serious or repeated violation of these terms, after a written warning where possible.

Changes

Knipsoft may unilaterally amend these terms. For significant changes you will be informed via a notification in the app or by email. If you disagree with the changes you can terminate the agreement by deleting your account.

/ ARTICLE 11

Governing law

11.1 These terms and the use of the app are governed exclusively by Dutch law.

11.2 Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, subject to mandatory provisions for consumers that provide otherwise.

11.3 Consumers also have the option to submit a dispute to the European ODR platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
